What are Dentures?

If you are unaware of dentures then you should know that they are referred to as removable replacements for missing teeth and sometimes even gums. You may have seen them in a movie or a TV show where the old character pops out their dentures and places them in their mouth.

Those are one of two types of dentures – one being complete dentures and the other partial dentures. As the name suggests, the complete dentures are like a portable set of teeth while the partial dentures focus on the ones that are missing.

Medicare and Dentures

When it comes to Medicare and dentures, patients should know that Medicare does not cover dentures or any related dental appointments, fittings, or even extraction. However, in order to get these bills covered you should enroll yourself in Medicare Advantage or even private dental insurance.

Medicare Advantage

If you want your denture appointments covered then you have to apply for Medicare Advantage. Through this, you’ll be able to get some dental coverage but one thing to keep in mind is that your dentist or prosthodontist must be a part of the Medicare Advantage plan’s network.

Signing Up for Medicare Advantage Plan

To join the Medicare Advantage plan, all you have to do is to go onto the Medicare website and select a Medicare Plan. Once that is done, you have to see whether you can enroll in the plan online or not. If you can’t find an online portal, you should fill out a paper enrollment form, submit it, and then contact the network you are willing to join.

However, it is important to note that you should not give out your information to anyone over the phone unless it is a reliable and official source belonging to Medicare Advantage. You can also enroll yourself today by calling at 1-800-MEDICARE  (1-800-633-4227)
